We are always in need of Religious Education Instructors or Substitutes, called Catechists.
Catechists receive free training, all materials needed and ongoing support. You don't need to be an "expert at your faith" to become a catechist!
If interested in learning more about becoming a catechist, contact Jennifer Price. Please see the document, below, about Catechist Personal Qualifications and Job Description.
1) Background Check ($5)
2) Take a Protecting God's Children Class
**) You will continue this training monthly by reading an online essay (Virtus Online bulletin)
about the topic of maintaining a safe environment for children and taking a 1-question quiz to ensure understanding of this vital material (10 min per month)
After steps 1 and 2 are complete, Catechists and Substitutes (not Aides) take online classes in their homes to learn:
3) Teaching Methods (how to teach, and create prayerful classrooms)
4) Theology and Catholic Teachings (a series of online classes)
All new Catechists and Aides will attend a meeting to familiarize them with procedures.
We would be happy to accept items for donation.
1) Juice pouches/gallons of Hi-C type beverages
2) Snacks: crackers, pretzels, etc.
3) Project Supplies: electric pencil sharpener, glue sticks, dry erase markers, etc.
4) Religious items: Bibles, Sticky Bible Tabs (books of the Bible) Rosaries, Religious Posters, etc.
5) Craft Supplies: Colored printer paper (bold colors), glue sticks (hot or regular) etc.
Our group projects for our Christmas and End-of-Year parties typically involve many hours of prep, so the entire craft can be completed within the 75-minute time frame.
Additionally, many craft projects are completed during the course of the year, and prep work can be very time-consuming for Catechists.
If you'd like to help prep crafts/projects:
(cut and 3-hole punch paper, fill binders, organize supplies, etc.),
we'd LOVE your help!
